Bluetooth Compatibility
The wireless communication standard
Bluetooth is a radio standard primarily designed for low power consumption, with a short range (power class dependent: 10 centimeters, 10 meters, 100 meters) and with a low-cost transceiver microchip in each device.
Bluetooth lets these devices talk to each other when they come in range, even if they are not in the same room, as long as they are within up to 100 meters of each other, dependent on the power class of the product.
The penetration of Bluetooth enabled phones is about 52% as of today and is expected to rise to 75% in 2007.
Bluetooth® is one of the few standards created by mobile manufacturers jointly to alleviate the limitations of the Infrared. Bluetooth® is now THE wireless communication standard. Complementary of WiFi which connects you to the Internet, Bluetooth is a wireless high-speed way for electronic devices to communicate with each other.
